Christmas plans - newsletter
Dear parent / guardian,
It has been a year like no other with changes to all of our lives. I am exceptionally proud of our school’s response to the pandemic and am especially proud of all your children for their resilience and focus in school. Thanks, must also go to my dedicated team of staff who have worked so hard to ensure all children catch up in their learning whilst following the challenges of the covid-19 restrictions.
Please read the information below about our Christmas plans for the next two weeks:
Friday 11th December – Christmas jumper day and party day
Friday 18th December – last day of term
Monday 4th January – Inset day – no school for children
Tuesday 5th January – all children return to school
Unfortunately, covid-19 means that our Christmas celebrations have to be a little different this year. Look out for a letter from your child’s class teacher outlining our plans in more detail.
- We are planning for each class bubble to celebrate Christmas in a covid-19 safe way but restrictions mean we cannot hold our usual concerts and school fayre. However, we are hoping Father Christmas will be able to do a doorstep visit to each bubble whilst maintaining strict social distancing!
- Christmas bags – each child will bring a bag full of Christmas goodies home with them at the end of term. These will have been left to stand for 72 hours to ensure there is no risk of spreading covid. Each child will be making some Christmas cards, calendars and crafts to be sent home in their Christmas bags.
- This year, if your child wants to write Christmas cards to bring in to school we ask that they only give them out within their own class bubble, so please only write cards to their classmates. They need to be in school by Friday 11th December to allow for them to be safely given out. Children will bring them home in their Christmas bag.
- Christmas concerts – as we are not allowed to hold concerts this year and there are restrictions on singing we have decided that each class bubble will record some Christmas fun in a video for you to watch. You will be sent a code to access this video link. Please remember to keep our children safe on line and do not post the video on social media.
We have been very grateful for your support over the past term, we look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
I would like to wish you all a safe and happy Christmas holiday.
Mrs E Thomas – Head Teacher
